The play, Sure Thing, is so silly. At first, I didnt understand what was going on and i thought Bill had dementia or something. Then, I realized somebody is hitting the rewind button when the conversation goes sour. This let Bill have many do overs until he said something right to Betty. I would have realized this more quickly if i saw the play performed. The play shows an infinite amount of possible variations until Bill and Betty got the happy ending. My initial thought of the bell's constant ringing was that the place must really busy. That is why Betty was being pestered by Bill because Bill couldnt find a waiter. However, the bell really signifies the rewind button. It represents the fresh start. It is the second, third, fourth... chance to impress Betty. The play also emphasizes the embarrassing conflicts when boy meets girl and dating. The play showed all the possible ways that can be said by a guy or a girl to screw up a conversation. Because of this, it showed the possibilities or impossibilities of romance, love, and the crazy world of dating. However, the characters push through all the impossibilities to make it work. Even though the characters pushed through what seemed to be endless impossibilities to get a happy ending, I wonder if there new found relationship will actually work. Maybe the reason the conversation failed so many times was because it wasnt meant to be.
Other than that, i thought the play was cute and a knee-slapper.
