From what I understand, there is this married couple living in a studio apartment. The wife comes to realization that marriage is not about a fairy tale ending. The husband "yawn[s]" and "went out for ciggarettes"(807). He no longers shows the affection and attention to his wife. Their marriage lost the excitement. Just like the keyboard is "out of tune", so is their marriage. The marriage is off key. The sound of marriage is not as delightful as it used to be. The marriage is boring. The wife does the same routine over and over by cleaning and she is expecting the same old routine the next day. This is because she would pick up the "scraps of last night's cheese".The wife is also being unfaithful to her husband. She is even distracted enough to "let the coffee-pot boil over the stove" by the thought of the other man. She is so frustrated due to the dissatisfaction of the marriage that she is hoping to be satisfied elsewhere. She is even frustrated with her husband. It seems like she sort of wants him to know that she has a dirty little secret. When she is "jeered by the minor demons", she " pulled back the sheets" like she was trying to reveal a secret.
The sin is infidelity.
